The Times Record ran an interesting article that looked at Governor Baldacci’s legacy and what might have been possible for Maine with more independent, less partisan leadership:
A professional politician throughout his entire adult life, Baldacci naturally sought political solutions to the challenges he faced as governor. In doing so, he’s maintained the status quo in Augusta — Democratic control of the Legislature and Blaine House — at the expense of progress that might have emerged from more independent, less partisan leadership.
