So between these two polar opposites sits Eliot Cutler. He already had laid claim to the moderate independent label since his announcement months ago, and today he can raise his flag and fly it far and wide. Cutler has a background that appeals to voters on both sides of the aisle. His experiences with the former and much loved Senator Muskie appeal to Democrats and those of a certain age, while his experiences in business help him relate to those seeing themselves as more Republican leaning.
